"Do not lick your own saliva" is an Indonesian proverb, which means do not say yes after saying no. SweetRing, a serious dating application, conducted a survey in Indonesia and found that 58% of Indonesian do not want to make up after they break up. This news is quite surprising because it also means almost 50% of men and women in Indonesia are still willing to change their minds after breaking up.
From SweetRing's survey results, 61% of women do not want to make up with their ex-boyfriends. However, for those who still want to get back together, they still have high self-esteem so they would wait for their partner's invite (88%) rather than apologize and ask their ex to get back together. For men, only 43% of men do not want to making up with their ex. Men tend to forgive their ex more easily and get back together. 48% of men are willing to lower their self-esteem, apologize, and ask their ex to get back together. After they get back together, 58% of women tend to tell their family and friends.
49% of Indonesian couples who have got back together tend to last up to 1 year or more. This proves that the proverb "the ex that gone away" is wrong. However, the older they get, the harder it will be for them to forgive their ex's mistakes. Only 38% of Indonesian aged 35 years or above are willing to get back with their ex. The chance of getting back together will also be lowered as time passes, with getting back together after 1 month at 49%, but only 11% after 6 months.
When analysing per zodiac signs, survey results found that only Sagittarius women tend to forgive their ex more easily. Others like Capricorn and Scorpio women cannot get back with their ex because they still feel resentment towards their ex. If you want a man who is really understanding and forgiving, Gemini, Libra, and Aries male are the ones for you as they are more open in trying new things and forgive their partner's mistakes more easily. However, Leo, Aquarius and Pisces men prefer finding a new partner than forgiving their ex.
