MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- DHL eCommerce, a division of Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL Group), will create new opportunities in cross border e-commerce for India's e-tailers through the opening of its new Distribution Center in Delhi. This investment is part of the recent announcement that DPDHL Group will invest over EUR250 million in India by 2020.

"India is one of the top ten e-commerce markets and the fastest-growing globally with e-commerce expected to grow at a CAGR of 31% to reach EUR2 billion by 20201," says Malcolm Monteiro, CEO, DHL eCommerce Asia Pacific. "India has been identified as a key market for DPDHL Group and we're leveraging our experience and successes globally and customizing our services to meet the needs of the India market. We're confident that our new cross-border solutions will provide an added boost to the growing e-commerce industry in India."

The Delhi Distribution Center forms a vital component to enable end-to-end logistics for e-commerce, allowing e-tailers to reach out to customers globally and enable quick fulfillment of orders at all times to popular destinations such as the U.S. and Europe. This will further enhance DHL's existing logistics infrastructure in India, helping boost the Indian e-commerce industry.

DHL has been in India since 1979 and along with its sister divisions DHL Express, DHL Supply Chain, DHL Global Forwarding and subsidiary Blue Dart, the Group offers end-to-end solutions for e-commerce retailers. For cross-border shipping, DHL Express offers premium and time-definite shipping solutions while DHL eCommerce offers a range of economy solutions to meet rising demands for a wider variety of shipping options resulting from the growing e-commerce industry.

"India's booming e-commerce market, coupled with the government's implementation of GST2 and greater ease of claiming benefits like MEIS for cross-border shipments, has made e-commerce exports more attractive and business-friendly than ever before. We are positive of the growth and are hugely committed to enable Indian e-tailers to fully capitalize this exciting e-commerce market." says Suraj Bangera, Country Director, DHL eCommerce India.

The establishment of the Distribution Center allows DHL eCommerce to provide e-tailers with its extensive portfolio services tailored for the e-commerce industry, such as Packet and Packet Plus that will enable economical shipments worldwide and DHL Parcel International Direct that offers a favorable transit time from four to seven days for deliveries to the U.S., the UK and Australia. E-tailers will be able to enjoy easy IT integration that will facilitate a seamless click-to-order process, and make reliable transit times, tracking visibility and other features that support customer-centric deliveries for their e-commerce business, possible.
