Channeling private-sector capital into healthcare and allowing doctors to practice at multiple sites is critical for the even distribution of medical resources and the creation of a hierarchical healthcare system. "We share highly compatible visions for healthcare -- providing 'patient-centric' healthcare. C&P is a medical group of China's top cardiologists, while DeltaHealth Hospital·Shanghai is a foreign-invested professional healthcare platform that specializes in cardiovascular care and has extensive management expertise and unrivalled brand value. The new business model created between the two companies will inspire China's effort to promote the development of non-public healthcare," said M.D., PhD. Desmond Thio.

C&P was founded by 23 prominent cardiologists under the advocacy and guidance of Prof. Yong Huo and Prof. Junbo Ge, two leading cardiology experts in China. Currently, more than 20 leaders of disciplines have signed with C&P -- a national pool of China's best cardiovascular talent. As C&P's first partnership with a foreign-invested general hospital, the cooperation between the companies will not only provide cardiologists with a high-level practice platform, but will also allow the two sides to complement each other with their respective clinical strengths in cardiology to contribute to China's cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment. According to the agreement, DeltaHealth Hospital·Shanghai will gradually bring in recognized cardiologists in batches from C&P in the next few years. They will also be long-term partners in talent and discipline development.

"China still has a long way to go in cardiovascular disease prevention and control. Due to China's high-density, aging and growing population, more and more people are dying from cardiovascular diseases, which has caused mounting pressure on China's preventive efforts. The partnership between DeltaHealth Hospital and C&P is another innovative healthcare model that is expected to contribute to cardiovascular care in China," said Academician Jun Bo Ge.

Prof. Yan Sheng Ding, Medical Director of C&P, briefed the participants on the work of C&P. In the first half of 2017, C&P has achieved fruitful results in building platforms to allow doctors to practice at multiple sites and assisting county-level healthcare providers. While ensuring the professional skills of doctors, C&P has steadily expanded doctor resources and has thus laid a solid foundation for serving more doctors, medical institutions and patients. "It is an arduous but promising journey for doctors to practice at multiple sites," said Prof. Ding when commenting on the work progress.

Since its inauguration in September 2016, DeltaHealth Hospital·Shanghai has quickly evolved into an important provider of cardiovascular care in East China thanks to its superior medical resources as well as its "patient-centric" development model that encourages innovation. Led by Prof. Li Zhong Sun, President and Chief Medical Officer and Academician Jun Bo Ge, Chief Medical Officer, the "Heart Team" offers integrated healthcare spanning a wide range of disciplines, including cardiology, cardiac surgery, interventional imaging, anesthesia, perfusion and nursing -- leading China in terms of clinical indications. Since its inception, the hospital has been a strategic partner of Columbia HeartSource, which allows it to bring the world's advanced clinical techniques, experience and hospital management expertise to China.

As an important component of China's healthcare reform, allowing doctors to practice at multiple sites will not only help balance the distribution of quality medical resources, but will also make doctors more enthusiastic about their career. The rise of medical groups will have a far-reaching impact on China's primary and non-public healthcare. "C&P is focused on the specialized fields of internal medicine of cardiovascular diseases. It not only invests a lot in supporting county-level medical institutions, but also strives to help more healthcare providers and clinicians master standard clinical diagnosis & treatment technologies used for cardiology. Our partnership with DeltaHealth Hospital·Shanghai demonstrates that C&P can expand opportunities for doctors to practice at multiple sites, provide quality medical talent and contribute to the upgrade development of cardiology. Our final purpose is to meet the diversified needs of doctors, healthcare providers and patients, and fulfill the mission of serving patients, doctors and hospitals," said Yan Dong Guo, President of C&P.
