JAKARTA, Indonesia, Oct. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time, Ruby Conference was held in Indonesia across two days, from 6-7 October 2017. This conference is an initiative of Ruby programmers to gather and support the Ruby community in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. In Indonesia, Ruby is used by BukaLapak, GO-JEK, and Quipper, a leading technology education company.

Ruby was designed and developed by software programmer Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto to make programming easier and less complicated so that programmers can enjoy the art of the programming itself, rather than struggling with a complicated syntax. Matz believes that it is important for programmers to be able to enjoy their work. Its simplicity and effectivity has made Ruby one of the most used programming languages in Japan, Europe and the United States, enabling large scale businesses to forward software development.

"Indonesia is one of the biggest markets of Asia with rapid growth in the information technology industry, especially in the startup sector. Concurrently, the number of Rubyists has increased significantly over the last few years, resulting with many technology companies to develop products with Ruby," explained Matz, who is also an advisor at Quipper.

Also a protagonist of Ruby, Quipper participated in the Ruby Conference to support and encourage the growth of Indonesia's IT industry, especially in human resource development.

Takuya Homma, Country Manager of Quipper Indonesia commented on the involvement of Quipper in the conference, "It's very important for us to support events like this as a company that believes in leveraging technology to provide universal access to education. We want to support young talents and contribute to enhance the IT ecosystem of Indonesia."

Ruby's international delegates from different parts of the world, including Matz himself, and some local talents shared their own experiences of building their products with Ruby at the conference. Members of Quipper's global product team from Tokyo, Manila, and Jakarta were also present to share the company's products and discuss the technology behind. The company opens doors to young and talented Indonesian programmers to join its team.

"We hope with this event, the IT professionals in Indonesia will gain more knowledge about the industry, be open to collaboration, enhance skills, and encourage Indonesia to be the future leader in technology," closed Takuya.
