Empowering Singapore's Health: Actxa's Foray into Khoo Teck Puat Hospital's Retail Pharmacy

2017-03-30 11:40 2693

SINGAPORE, March 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On the 16th this month, Actxa became Singapore's first fitness wearables company to stock their full product range at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). This entry into the public hospital's retail pharmacy marks another significant step in realising the company's goal of encouraging more people to embark on an active lifestyle.

In 2015, Actxa was launched – and in the same year also became the appointed supplier of the steps tracker, for the inaugural National Steps ChallengeTM (NSC) by Health Promotion Board (HPB). Fueled by the nation's positive response to the physical activity initiative, NSC Season 2, which was launched on 1 October 2016, also saw Actxa becoming one of the official technology partners.

Joel Chin, CEO of Actxa, spoke of his team's joys of not only being a Singaporean company who was supporting a nationwide initiative that encouraged fellow Singaporeans to be active, but also, of being able to "put our fitness and activity trackers into the hands of everyone, inspiring them to lead active and healthier lives".

In the short time frame since, the Research and Development team put out three more enhanced step tracker models: The Stride+, the Swift and Swift+, as well as the Sense Smart Scale, the lattermost an intuitive digital body fat analyser designed to help the world register a fitter, healthier lifestyle. Now armed with a sizeable range of smart fitness technologies packed into innovative products, Actxa sought to further their reach to the masses – via the local hospitals.

Since July 2016, Singapore General Hospital's Lifestyle Improvement Fitness Enhancement (LIFE) Centre has been selling the Actxa Swift step tracker to their patients, as a means of encouraging physical activity as part of their chronic disease management. Now, with this new arrangement with KTPH Retail Pharmacy, both patients and the general public may easily purchase Actxa's full range of activity trackers, and/or a smart weighing scale for an increased understanding and insights into their health.

Actxa is currently in talks with more local public hospitals to open similar doorways, with the ultimate aim of putting their fitness products into the hands of as many possible, thus moving towards a nation of people registering fitter, healthier lifestyles.

The full range of Actxa's step trackers – which includes the Actxa Swift ($49.90) and Swift+ ($69.90) – as well as the Sense Smart Scale ($129), are now available at KTPH's Retail Pharmacy (tel: 6602 2222).
