- First-of-its-kind product targeted specifically for the e-commerce market combines cost-effectiveness with reliability and traceability

SINGAPORE, Oct. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- DHL eCommerce Singapore, a division of the world's leading logistics company, Deutsche Post DHL Group, recently launched a hybrid shipping product, Parcel International Direct Australia, to enable e-tailers, ranging from small to large online retailers, blog shops or sellers on marketplaces in Singapore, to tap on the rapidly growing cross border e-commerce market in Australia, which is expected to grow over 150% in online cross-border transactions from AUD 6.5bn in 2013 to AUD 16.6bn in 2018.[i]

With Parcel International Direct Australia, online retailers in Singapore will be able to leverage DHL's strength in quality commercial delivery and extensive network partnerships in Australia, to tap on the massive e-commerce market and deliver parcels of up to 20kg to their customer base.

By providing a solution specific to the e-commerce market, Parcel International Direct Australia allows e-tailers to achieve performance and cost effectiveness, particularly as e-commerce shipments have changed from low-volume, bulk orders to high-volume, small orders straight to consumers.

"Consumers worldwide are increasingly expecting greater choice and convenience in their delivery options, and demanding greater visibility and reliability during the process. In a recent DHL study[ii], we found that over 59% of customers consider shipping costs, delivery time and choice of the delivery partner before making an online purchase.

As a result, e-tailing businesses and online sellers require more cost-effective and varied means to ship their products to remain competitive," said Malcolm Monteiro, CEO, Asia Pacific, DHL eCommerce, "Parcel International Direct Australia is a versatile shipping product that will help merchants expand their footprint in the online cross-border market."

With the rise of small and medium businesses selling online, DHL eCommerce also offers a 24/7 self-service portal, the DHL eCommerce Customer Web Portal. This allows e-tailers to prepare shipments individually or upload them in bulk to print their own shipping labels, track shipment progress and generate shipment reports. The portal also integrates with leading marketplaces like Amazon and eBay, offering sellers on these platforms a seamless experience of pulling orders and pushing tracking details at a click of a button.

First-of-its-kind hybrid shipping for parcels entering Australia from Singapore

Parcel International Direct Australia is the first product to provide customers with a hybrid solution directly from Singapore to Australia, offering greater tracking and visibility, as well as cost-effectiveness to all major cities within four to six business days.

These deliveries are made to conventional addresses as well as P.O. boxes and parcel lockers. Additionally, Parcel International Direct Australia offers no additional charges for delivery to remote addresses. Unique to the Australia market, DHL eCommerce has found that 40% of e-commerce deliveries are delivered outside of metro areas.
