MEXICO CITY, May 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Aldea Solutions and Telefonica have reached a 5-year cooperation agreement for the use of Telefonica Open Cloud to support its Online Video Platform, expecting to reduce OPEX and improve business efficiency.

Telefonica is supporting this by its technology partner Huawei, is offering public cloud services to various leading enterprises, SMEs and public sector organizations.

Aldea is a leader of services and solutions for television, movie and media. Aldea offers integrated transmission services through its fiber optic network and associated teleports. The Aldea proposal includes: full-time and occasional use of services, video as a file, high-definition coding, and all production and transmission solutions that a client may need. The company's services are used by major television and media outlets throughout the world for the transmission and distribution of sports, news and television programs. What's more, since 2006 Aldea has been selected as a strategic business partner by the main media companies in America and Europe for the transmission of big events like: World Cup (Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014), Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016), among others.

Aldea uses state-of-the-art technologies that guarantee the maximum reliability of its transmissions. Aldea operates the first fully-automated Pan-American fiber optic network for television broadcasting services. Aldea is present in the main cities throughout the Americas, located in: Canada, USA, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile, among others.

Before this cooperation agreement with Telefonica, Aldea relied on dedicated infrastructure to fulfill customer requirements, but soon they realized that the IT resources needed to keep up with the business needs were growing too fast, and the investment needed in expansion will be a disaster.

Aldea started to test several public clouds, including Telefonica Open Cloud. After 2-month POC test, Open Cloud was accepted as the best vendor in terms of performance, maintenance and support.

With the new services running in Open Cloud, Aldea now is able to assign elastic resources (compute, network, storage, among others) to meet the massive and fast-growing IT requirements of today's video platforms.

Aldea Mexico CEO Edgar Cerón says:

"This project is just a beginning, we hope to get more technical support from Huawei and Telefonica in business transformation. More critical applications in Aldea need to be migrated onto Cloud, with higher efficiency and lower TCO."
