SEOUL CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL 2017 to be held in Cheonggye Plaza of Seoul

SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Now, the area near Cheongyecheon of Seoul is colored with a splendid scenery of light. The Organizing Committee of SEOUL CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL 2017 said that it is presenting the festival in the area near Cheongyechon and inviting citizens to the festival of light in the beautiful city.

On December 9th, the opening ceremony of the SEOUL CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL 2017, and the lighting ceremony of the Christmas tree were held. The event will run through January 2nd, 2018, offering a 25-day-festival to all citizens.

In the 1.5km section between Cheonggye Plaza and Jangtong Bridge, visitors can enjoy the Christmas tree theme park of colorful illumination, the LED Display Zone set up with media, the Christmas celebration event and another celebration event at the end of this year and for the new year. There are more programs with various attractions including the Photo Zone With Stories, the everyday cultural performances that are held in front of the Christmas tree, and the experience program which visitors can participate in.

In particular, this year's festival is consisted of five themes: 1. Dream Show Zone with special effects of the media ball (shown in Korea for the first time), producing fantastic night sceneries. 2. Joy Zone with the media bar and displays. 3. Love Them Zone with LED displays. 4. White Christmas Zone decorated and set as an experience center with media. 5. Blessing Zone, a space for happiness and sharing.

On the large stage set in the Cheonggye Plaza, which is located in front of the main Christmas tree, a variety of performances are shown during the whole festival period. On the 24th, the Christmas Eve Show and on the 31st, Happy New Year 2018 Event will be held.

The SEOUL CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL 2017 is jointly organized by the Kyunghyang Shinmun, C Channel, Agape Cultural Foundation, hosted by the Organizing Committee, and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Korea Tourism Organization. The festival, which celebrates its third anniversary this year, has attracted more than 10 million visitors, including citizens and tourists from abroad, over the past two years. It has become a festival which presents the special theme and impression of 'Seoul's Nightscape' for overseas tourists, and a winter representing festival of Seoul for Korean people.
