SHANGHAI, June 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Swarovski is delighted to announce the opening of the seventh edition of World Jewelry Facets, which has taken place at the Shanghai Gallery of Art at Three on the Bund. This year, the theme is "The Art of Crystals".  Reflecting Swarovski's long tradition of creative partnerships, World Jewelry Facets is an inspirational expression of craftsmanship and of the finest art and design talent in the fashion jewelry world.

June 23, 2016, a glamorous celebration at the Shanghai Gallery of Art at Three on the Bund, the iconic century-old building, restored in 2000 by the acclaimed architect Michael Graves, and today regarded as one of the city's outstanding landmarks. The historic venue provided an elegant backdrop to the official opening of World Jewelry Facets 2016, in addition to showcasing stunning design collaborations and immersive art installations.

A tribute to the artistry and technical mastery of Swarovski crystal, World Jewelry Facets honors the vision of the designers who partner with the crystal maison. Two of this year's World Jewelry Facets highlights include a spectacular kinetic crystal installation 'Sundew' by Elaine Yan Ling Ng whose unique design approach encompasses textiles, electronics and biomimicry to create a highly interactive presentation and 'The Shaping Grows' by Semiconductor, a UK-based duo, Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt who have created a stunning computer-generated subterranean crystal cave controlled by seismic data from earthquake activity around the world.

Following the opening event on June 23, the exhibition will be open to the public for two weeks.
