Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, Announces the Open Call to Singapore Designers to a New Program "New Product for Singapore -- Gift which Fuses Singapore and Yamagata"

YAMAGATA CITY, Japan, Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Yamagata Prefectural Government and Yamagata International Economic Development Support Organization (Y-ES), Japan, have announced a new program named "New Product for Singapore -- Gift which fuses Singapore and Yamagata." The program offers a Singapore designer with an opportunity to collaborate with some companies in Yamagata, aiming to develop a new product which people want to give as a "present".

Yamagata Prefectural Government and Y-ES are now seeking applications from Singapore designers who are interested in Japan and Yamagata, and are eager to develop a new gift product in collaboration with Yamagata companies.

Outline of the program

• Yamagata Prefectural Government and Y-ES will select a Singapore designer.
• The selected designer is required to visit Yamagata companies from January 17 to 20, 2017. (Travel expenses between Singapore and Yamagata including accommodation and meal in Yamagata will be borne by YPG&Y-ES.)
• The selected designer is also required to submit following documents after the visit to Yamagata companies;
  • Letters of the designer's thoughts and advice to each company
  • Proposal of collaboration in making a prototype and design plans to one or more companies
• After YPG&Y-ES confirm the proposal mentioned above, 200,000 JPY will be provided to the designer as a production subsidy.

The open call for designers is conducted until 21 November 2017.
