Advocating for the Protection of Rainforests through Online Activities

Prior to the main event, the RSPO members and collaborators launched an online animation interactive activity, which was held under the theme "YOU are the One to Protect Tropical Rainforests!" This fun and highly engaging activity helped raise awareness among consumers of the indispensability of sustainable palm oil and the damage caused to tropical rainforests when palm oil is produced in an unsustainable way.

Living a Sustainable Life with Sustainable Palm Oil

As the key organizer of the event, RSPO places great importance on the role of consumers in promoting sustainable palm oil. RSPO Global Outreach & Engagement Director Mr. Stefano Savi said, "China is the second largest importer and the third largest consumption country of palm oil globally. The RSPO pays great attention to the development of sustainable palm oil in China not only because China consumes a large amount of palm oil but also because China has become a champion of sustainable development, making it a clear goal for the nation to achieve. Today, there are now 75 RSPO members and 83 RSPO certified factories in China. The RSPO is launching consumer-oriented events in China in a bid to encourage more people to understand the importance of sustainable palm oil, call for more consumer brands to get involved, promote sustainable lifestyles and together protect our living environment that we all depend on."

Mr. YANG Xiaoguang, the Marketing Director of Rainbow Supermarket said at the event that, "There are currently 67 Rainbow Supermarkets in China, with over 4 million members nationwide. We will leverage our Rainbow Supermarket app to promote sustainable palm oil and sustainable consumption to our members at 55 cities in China. Meanwhile, the Rainbow Supermarket will directly procure products with RSPO's sustainable palm oil certification trademark in the future. Through this, we aim to provide Chinese consumers with more access to products containing RSPO-certified palm oil, and to take actions make the earth a better place."

The "Say Yes to Sustainable Palm Oil" campaign is appealing to millions of consumers in China. With guidance from on-site volunteers and staff, consumers designed and made lipstick containing sustainable palm oil with their own hands for their loved ones, which at the same time helped to raise awareness about sustainable palm oil, the protection of tropical rainforests and the importance of sustainable consumption. Consumers involved in these RSPO activities were given special RSPO-certified gifts.

Through this campaign, the RSPO chose an interesting and consumer-friendly way to provide consumers with a creative experience and successfully raise public awareness about the significance of sustainable palm oil and protecting tropical rainforests. By interacting directly with consumers, the RSPO enabled consumers to obtain a deeper understanding of sustainable palm oil and called for the public to support the RSPO and sustainable palm oil, buy sustainable palm oil products certified by the RSPO, and make everyday contributions to the sustainable development of tropical rainforests.
