HONG KONG, March 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Computershare's (ASX: CPU) new share plan platform can increase staff engagement four-fold and play a decisive role in helping firms retain talent, the world's leading share plan management service provider has said.

Computershare rolled out the new version of Employee Online, its mobile-responsive share plan administration tool in October which includes direct input from the staff at its client Baidu, one of the world's largest internet companies.

More than 95% of eligible Baidu staff members registered to use Employee Online, with around half (47%) taking action in response to the very first vesting invitation they received: a four-fold increase from the level typical before the introduction of the new system.

Seth Bohart, Managing Director of Computershare Plan Managers in Asia, said: "Since Computershare entered the Chinese employee share plan market over 12 years ago, the Chinese internet, user experience and expectation have grown exponentially. Throughout Asia, we have seen a growing realisation of the tremendous role that share plans can play in fostering loyalty, rewarding employees and increasing productivity, and this new system will help companies reach even higher levels of engagement and retention."

"Computershare was thrilled to be able to work in close collaboration with one of our original clients, Baidu, and its employees to develop and design Employee Online specifically for the Chinese internet user. Baidu's contributions and input were paramount to the success of the launch and the platform's excellent reception in the Chinese market."

Eleanor, Yuhong Zhao, Head of Baidu HR Shared Services Center said: "As the first client globally to use the new platform, we were delighted to work closely with Computershare on the development and design of Employee Online. Baidu appreciates the tremendous role that share plans can play in fostering loyalty and rewarding employees. This new platform helps increase the productivity of plan administrators, improves human-computer interaction and user experience. We can already see that it helps achieve even higher levels of satisfaction. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Computershare on future enhancements and additional functionality."

During the trial, less than 0.05% of registrants called for support; a dramatic reduction in the proportion of those seeking support over the phone.

120 Baidu employees provided around 700 pieces of feedback during the product's creation, and Computershare says the platform is now "tailor-made" for the growing share plan market in Asia.

Computershare invested millions of dollars (USD) in the new platform, which it says will deliver a dramatically-improved customer experience by making use of recently-emerging technology and cutting edge design that works well on desktop computers, tablets and smartphones.

As well as increasing engagement with employees, the new version of Employee Online is designed to reduce workload for share plan administrators by more proactively providing information and online tools to employee shareholders and simplifying processes.
