2018-03-15 09:00 1430

COLOGNE, Germany and LUND, Sweden, March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The global testing service provider's Swedish national subsidiary, TUV Rheinland Sweden AB, has had its wireless lab in Lund audited and accredited as a certification institution by the Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment (SWEDAC). This allows the company to carry out full compliance testing as an independent testing organization. "The lab in Lund, Sweden is a further milestone with which we can build up our global commitment in the field of wireless technologies, bringing us another step closer to fulfilling our TUV Rheinland Wireless Strategy 2020. With this successful accreditation, SWEDAC has now confirmed our expertise in the field of wireless," explains Stefan Kischka, Vice President of Wireless/Internet of Things at TUV Rheinland.

Full range of wireless testing options

TUV Rheinland has expanded its worldwide wireless network with the wireless laboratory acquired in 2017. In addition to Sweden, TUV Rheinland also operates comparable IoT labs in Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, the USA and the Netherlands.

Lund is the first of the TUV Rheinland European wireless labs to specialize in IoT products. "In this laboratory, we offer our customers the entire range of wireless testing options, such as Sigfox, LoRa, ZigBee, 3GPP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Thread. The lab is also equipped with OTA chambers and SAR systems and even offers eCall testing," adds Anders Nordlof, Managing Director of the national subsidiary TUV Rheinland Sweden AB.

eCall testing

eCall is the abbreviated version of "emergency call". From March 31, 2018, manufacturers across the EU must install this automatic emergency call system for motor vehicles in all new car models and in new light-duty commercial vehicles. In the event of an accident, the vehicle sends a relevant notification to the emergency services, helping to initiate rapid rescue operations. "We see major potential in this development. As a state-of-the-art lab, which is TUV Rheinland's first in the world to offer eCall testing, we are continuing to expand our market position," states Nordlof.
