CHENGDU, China, June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2014 Xindu North Mall Specialty Products of South Asia Expo, hosted by China Silk Association, China Hotel Supplies Association and Sichuan Silk Association, kicked off at the Jinmen Silk, Trade and Tourism Town North Mall recently. A stellar roster of exhibitors from several countries including Thailand, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka has taken part in the event, showcasing precious and rare jewelry and gemstones.

Take a closer look at the precious and rare jewelry and gemstones at Xindu and experience the charm of the Southern Silk Road.

The show is divided into eight themed exhibit halls, totaling 160 exhibition booths. Exhibitors from several countries and regions including Thailand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Laos and Burma, all countries that bordered the southern Silk Road, have been invited to the event to showcase their specialty products.

The spokesperson for the Burma Hall said: "The most expensive item on exhibit is an all-green jade bracelet worth 20 million yuan (approx. US$3.0 million). These expensive stones all originate from ancient deposits and feature pure jade green colors. We hope the people in Xindu will enjoy our most beautiful jewelry products made in Burma."

"The 2014 Xindu North Mall Specialty Products of South Asia Expo, an important bridge for mutually beneficial partnerships between China and the countries of South and Southeast Asia, will help to deepen trade and exchanges between these countries and regions. The show will enable people in Chengdu to buy authentic and original products from Southeast Asia and to have a chance to see traditional Thai folk performances without having to leave China. The event is a one-stop destination where one can go shopping, take in some entertainment, dine and sightsee, all under one roof." Ou Ruzhang, vice director of the Xindu North Mall Administration Committee, hopes the event will be a new and pleasing experience for all visitors to the mall.

The "Restart from Xindu-Travel along the Southern Silk Road" motorcade departed from Jinmen, Xindu on 11 June and passed through Ya'an, Panzhihua, Dali, Baoshan, Mangshi and Ruili, arriving at Jiegao Town, Ruili, a city straddling the border between China and Burma. The route is a reproduction of the ancient southern Silk Road. At today's ceremony launching the event, the motorcade will have brought back precious products purchased along the southern Silk Road including Thai fruit juice, cosmetics with natural anti-aging skin care ingredients, signature tobacco products from Burma and dyed cloth.

Xindu North Mall, a key part of northern Chengdu's high-end trade development as well as a part of a newly rebuilt area of Chengdu, houses 17 retail operations including Chengdu Xinji Runmao Hotel Supplies City, Chengdu Haining China Leather City, Sichuan Guida Tea Capital, Tianhu Haobusika, Nordic City, Western Electric Trading Center, Headquarters of the Southwestern Wushang Chamber of Commerce, Shenrong Automobile Commerce Service Park, Yuanshangwan International Business Center, Lecheng New Century Trade Center and Chengdu IOT City. A spokesperson for Xindu District noted that the Restart from Xindu series will soon host the Xindu-India Trade Fair, providing a platform for firms in Xindu and even Chengdu and Sichuan who looking for new development opportunities.
