SHANGHAI, November 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2015 "Entrepreneurship in Pudong" World Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest concluded after month-long preliminary contests and semi-finals. The event was hosted by the Pudong New Area Branch, Shanghai Committee of the China Communist Youth League, and TechCode. The top three startups were announced in the final, held at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. Present at the event were: Xie Yumin, Deputy Governor of Pudong New Area; Deng Jie, Director General of the Pudong International Talent City; Zhang Dewang and Ni Yisong, respectively Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Technology Entrepreneurship Foundation for Graduates; Zhang Tao, Vice Director of the Pudong New Area Human Resources and Social Security Bureau; Ding Haitao, Vice Director of Pudong Intellectual Property Administration; and, Shen Cong, Deputy Secretary of The Communist Youth League Shanghai Pudong New Area Committee. They granted awards to winners on the spot.

Thanks to TechCode's global incubator network and resources sharing, the event was widely recognized worldwide as soon as it started. In less than a month, TechCode got nearly 1,300 applications for startup projects in Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Silicon Valley, Tel Aviv (Israel), and Seoul (South Korea), hitting a new high. Meanwhile, the event saw the establishment of an overseas station for the first time, contributing nearly 140 notable projects. In the Youth Entrepreneurship Camp, TechCode invited startups from Silicon Valley to share their stories and entrepreneurial experiences with young innovators.

The event rewrote the record in international coverage and project quality. Three projects of Junior Team and Mature Team each, selected from the semi-finals, conducted roadshows in the final, leaving unique visual impressions on the jury and audience. ACTON RocketSkates from TechCode Silicon Valley and ECOncrete from TechCode Israeli had a huge advantage in innovative technologies and won in Mature Team and Junior Team. The second and third prizes of Mature Team went to a 3D sensor-based computer vision project and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) management software project, while those of Junior Team went to the US' Vimo Fit APP and a project launched by China's crowd marketing innovator Data Win. Each of these prizewinners received a gift package worth one million yuan from TechCode. In the package, TechCode delivers tailored outbound study journeys and other incentive initiatives for commercial operations.

"Our global networks and resources have played an important role in the contest. We successfully recommended a number of startup projects in the overseas round and won much acclaim," said Erica Huang, CEO of TechCode. "This contest ends, but the industrialized development and commercial operations of innovative projects have just begun. We will do our best to use TechCode's resource advantages to push this forward. We will also work together with the organizer to turn research results into productive forces, making the Pudong New Area into a 'kingdom of international makers.'"

Peter, who headed ACTON RocketSkates' roadshow, said the contest offered him an opportunity to fully demonstrate his project. Expressing his appreciation to TechCode for holding an overseas round, he said that innovation is borderless and imperative, and that he has obtained valued experiences from the contest. He looks forward to turning his innovative ideas into research and development and final production in both America and China. His team walked onto the stage immediately after the roadshow ended, with their cool RocketSkates attracting a great deal of attention from the audience.

In the 800-person lecture hall of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, startups from across the world stole the spotlight with marvelous final roadshows at the awards ceremony. Invited by TechCode, well-known people including young Chinese automotive entrepreneur Li Fei, Silicon Valley career development mentor Philipp Pieper, and Israel's serial entrepreneur David Maman delivered keynote speeches. Li Fei's speech focused on growing a business without relying on one's family. Philipp Pieper discussed the influence of technological innovation on future life by outlining how people's lifestyles will be reshaped and how global industrial upgrading will be achieved. David Maman, who attended the 2015 China Industry Conference - TechCode Sub-Forum and made a speech there not long ago, shared his serial entrepreneurship experiences and gave some suggestions for startups. "Only by helping small enterprises grow into big ones can a country push ahead with innovative development," he said.

In addition to the top three prizes, the contest also set up the "Most Popular Award" for enterprises and "Enlisting the World Award" for incubators. TechCode, Innovative Space of Scientific Research (InnoSpace), and Shanghai Lingang New City obtained the "Most Popular Award" while MooreRen Networking Technology bagged the "Enlisting the World Award".
