SHANGHAI, August 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- RTG Consulting Group released their "2016 RTG Brand Relevance Report" today, a report surveying 4,000 of China's Gen-Y and Gen-Z consumers, listing which brands they find most relevant to their lives. Topping the list are well-known brands Apple and Xiaomi, followed by WeChat and Adidas.

The report showcases interesting variations in rankings by generation -- for example, Xiaomi tops the list of "most relevant brand" among Gen-Z, while Apple is the favorite among Gen-Y consumers. Fashion brands are more relevant in Gen-Z's eyes, while the technology category plays a stronger role among China's Gen-Y.

"At RTG our mission is to ensure our client brands remain relevant to today's consumers, so we thought it would be neat to simply ask Chinese consumers 'Which brands are most relevant to you?'. We randomly surveyed 4,000 consumers with a 50/50 split between Gen-Y and Gen-Z, and asked this same question in multiple categories -- fashion, technology, electronics, mobile apps, auto, and food & beverage. The results were surprising as there were a number of brands we did not expect to see ranked in the top 10, and some we were even more surprised did not rank at all. It certainly goes to show how if brands do not pay attention to how the fast the market landscape can change, they risk not being relevant to today's consumers," says Angelito Tan Jr., CEO of RTG Consulting Group.
