PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii, June 1 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The Battleship Missouri Memorial has launched a Chinese-language version of its "Guide2Go" tour, which uses Apple iPod touch units -- pre-loaded with hours of historical video footage and interviews -- for visitors who wish to explore the 887-foot historic battleship, nicknamed "Mighty Mo," at their own pace. The Guide2Go tour is one of several guided tour options that are included along with admission with purchase of a Mighty Mo Pass.

"We invite our visitors to walk the deck on which General Hsu Yung-Chang of China joined General Douglas MacArthur of the United States to accept Japan's formal Instrument of Surrender on Sept. 2, 1945, aboard the USS Missouri," said Michael A. Carr, the memorial's president and chief operating officer. "The Guide2Go tour complements several other guided tour options, many already available in multiple languages."
All tours aboard Missouri end on the Surrender Deck. The original English version of the Guide2Go tour was introduced in 2009, allowing visitors to take the helm of their tour, controlling the pace and focus without missing out on the many facts and stories available on a guide-led tour. It merges history and modern technology, covering more than five decades and three wars, and features spectacular footage combined with narration and exclusive eyewitness accounts of men who served aboard the USS Missouri.
Guide2Go tours tend to last at least an hour, depending on the pace set by the visitor. As the device guides the visitor through the ship, it provides animated directional maps and photos, and even assists in locating elevators for easy access to the Main Deck and Surrender Deck. The visitor may pause, fast-forward and rewind the tour at will.
