Caterpillar showcases global business model at largest construction equipment trade show in Asia, highlighting innovative products and solutions that provide best value to Chinese customers

BEIJING, Dec. 4 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) is reinforcing its commitment to providing value to its growing base of Chinese customers through the continued expansion of the company's global business model across China. At this year's CONEXPO Asia trade show, Caterpillar is showcasing a state-of-the-art product line, demonstrating machine applications that provide the best value to customers, and is highlighting the unmatched product support that customers receive from Caterpillar and its dealer network.

"We know from working with customers every day that controlling costs, boosting productivity and dealing with a shortage of skilled workers are major challenges," said Rod Beeler, Caterpillar vice president of Asia Pacific Marketing and chairman of the CONEXPO Asia management committee. "Customers visiting the Caterpillar exhibit at this show will see and learn about differentiated Caterpillar products, applications and services that will help them address those concerns."

"Caterpillar Supports Your Business Success" is the theme for Caterpillar at this year's show, which is being held Dec. 4-7 at the China Import and Export Fair (CIEF) in Guangzhou, China. As part of Caterpillar's program, the company has arranged educational seminars and demonstration areas at its 2,700-square-meter display.

"The seminars and demonstrations will give our current customers and potential new customers a sense of how Caterpillar machines and work tools can help them to improve efficiency, reduce cost and become more competitive," said Beeler. Working with its dealers, Caterpillar has launched a customer education program to promote the diversity of machine applications with a series of robust and simple work tools. "We continue to expand our educational initiative through various projects in China," Beeler added.

Caterpillar and its dealers have an extraordinary partnership. In China, Caterpillar markets its products through five dealers. These dealers employ more than 3,000 employees and use the most advanced diagnostic and service tools to provide the best support services in the industries they serve.

"China represents a tremendous growth opportunity for Caterpillar and our dealers," said M.C. Chan, Caterpillar China regional director. "Working with our dealers, we understand the market challenges and what Caterpillar can do better to help our customers succeed." Caterpillar dealers in China are committed to increasing their investment by establishing provincial support centers and by expanding the network of dealer branch locations and Cat Rental Stores.

"Caterpillar is a long-term investor in China. We have 15 facilities and employ more than 5,000 employees in China," said Tom Bluth, Caterpillar vice president with responsibility for Asia Pacific manufacturing operations. "The key to our success will be to continue providing our customers with the greatest total value and unmatched product support so that they can run their businesses in the most efficient and profitable way possible."
