RICHMOND HILL, Ontario, Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- CrimsonLogic (North America) Inc., an International IT solutions provider, is the first company to be accredited by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to facilitate the electronic submission of highway cargo and conveyance data for carriers, in compliance with the Advanced Commercial Information (ACI) Highway eManifest initiative. The initiative requires the needed data to be received and processed at least one hour before the arrival of the cargo at the border.

An extension of the ACI ocean and air initiatives, the ACI Highway eManifest regulating land cargo is the third phase of CBSA's action plan to strengthen national security and manage risks by identifying health, safety and security threats at the border. Requirements for ocean carriers had earlier been implemented in 2004, and for air carriers, in 2005. ACI is the Canadian equivalent of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) program that became mandatory for highway carriers in 2007.

With CBSA now accepting ACI eManifests from highway carriers, early adopters are encouraged to start transmitting their data electronically with immediate effect, to avoid the last-minute rush once the ACI initiative becomes mandatory next year.

"Highway carriers are eager to start sending ACI eManifests now because having earlier implemented the electronic process for U.S. bound shipments successfully, they are now ready to synchronize the electronic process for shipments coming into Canada.  With manifest details including information about the truck, trailer and driver now received electronically at least one hour before arrival at the Canadian border, carriers will benefit from streamlined operations and expedited clearance," says Mr. James May, Regional Manager, CrimsonLogic Inc.

"Our experiences in providing government connectivity solutions and in enabling businesses to comply with government regulations in U.S. and Canada have equipped us with the know-how and expertise to offer the necessary advice and guidance, and to help businesses navigate the regulatory landscape. Additionally, businesses can leverage on our 24/7 global support team providing consultancy and support in customs compliance, should they meet any difficulties," added Mr. May.

CrimsonLogic provides ACI connectivity by enabling highway carriers to submit eManifest data using its WebCustoms platform through Web, Fax or EDI integration options.  The company's WebCustoms solution platform provides a direct connection to customs authorities for the submission of manifest and cargo release data. It enables businesses to gain visibility of cargo movements, and improve efficiency in business operations.
