JAKARTA, Indonesia, Jan. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As one of Asia's leading furniture and handicraft exhibitions, the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2015 hosts more than 400 exhibitors and will completely fill the Jakarta International Expo fairground. Almost all of the available space for the four-day exhibition (12-15 March 2015) has now been sold. IFEX 2015 will extend and build upon the success of last year's event with the strong support of both the industry and the government.

An exciting new feature at IFEX 2015 will be the "Hall of Excellence" that will showcase Indonesia's highest quality and most innovative of furniture and furnishings. The exhibits have been carefully selected by the Indonesia Furniture & Craft Association (AMKRI) as products that will satisfy even the most demanding domestic and international consumers.

Exhibitors in the Hall of Excellence include: Vandecasteele International, Warisan, Universal Furniture Industries, Indosurya Mahakam, Indorack Multikreasi, Maison Pederrey, Aida Rattan, Tipota, Seken Wood, Surya Alam Semesta, Ibal Designs, Life N'Style, Pro Design, Dcofrance By Rumah Masa Depan, Wirasindo Santakarya, Lawas Art, Euro Design, Country Form Furniture, Ploss Asia, Living Karma, and Gema Graha Sarana (Vivere)

IFEX 2015 is the largest professional trade event for the furniture, furnishings and craft in Indonesia.

The legality and sustainability of the raw materials used to make furniture, especially wood, is of critical concern to international buyers. In recognition of this and in order to boost exports of Indonesian furniture and handicrafts to reach the value of US$ 5 billion in the next four years, the government has introduced strict new regulations. Every product, from semi-finished to finished furniture, which contains wood must have the proper legal documentation that certifies that the products come from legal sources whenever they are exported.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian government has developed timber legality verification schemes to combat illegal logging and demonstrate the legality of their timber products to their local industry partners and overseas buyers.

The Indonesian government is providing full support for the industry through the 'Simplify Wood Verification' system and will facilitate the implementation of wood legality verification system (TLVS) for small-scale wood processing industries. "In the future, the process is done simply by presenting an affidavit or self declaration," said Partogi Pangaribuan, the Trade Ministry's Director General of foreign trade. The simplification, he said, is done to relieve small businesses from the obligation to hold TLVS as a requirement to export their goods after January 1, 2015. "We do not want any delays in exports, as this will help our trade balance as well," he said.
