CARY, N.C., May 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LORD Corporation – a global leader in highly reliable adhesives, coatings, motion management devices and sensing technologies – announced that Gen. James F. Amos, USMC, (ret.) has been appointed chairman of the LORD Corporation Board of Directors.

General Amos recently served as the 35th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and joined LORD Corporation's Board of Directors in December 2014. Amos was selected as chairman for his extraordinary leadership skills and understanding of the complex issues shaping the company's global operating environment.

Amos succeeds Rick McNeel, who served as chairman from 2011 to 2015 and as president and CEO from 2002 to 2012.  Under McNeel's leadership, LORD doubled in size and expanded operations globally to serve customers in their local markets.

"Our world is changing faster than at any time in recent memory, creating tremendous opportunities for companies that serve global markets," said McNeel. "As former Commandant of the Marine Corps and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Amos assessed a constantly shifting global environment. He is eminently qualified to help us navigate these opportunities, and we are fortunate to have his leadership on the Board."

LORD will continue to benefit from McNeel's expertise through his ongoing service as a member of the Board.

"Our global presence and effectiveness in collaborating with our customers across the world are thanks to the changes Rick implemented throughout his tenure," said LORD president and CEO Ed Auslander.  "We will continue to benefit by his leadership on the board, and look forward to exciting days ahead working hand in hand with Jim and Rick to serve our global customers."
