Ho Ching to be Awarded the Asia House Asian Business Leaders Award 2014

LONDON, June 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Trustees of Asia House are delighted to announce that Ho Ching, Executive Director and CEO of Temasek, will be awarded the 2014 Asian Business Leaders Award at a gala event to be held at Westminster's Banqueting House on Monday 27 October.

The annual Asia House award recognises those individuals who embody the 'Servant Leader' - economic success and professional excellence accompanied by moral leadership and service to society. Ho Ching was selected to receive this year's award because of her impressive business credentials and her significant efforts to inspire a commitment in others to improving society.

Asia House is a centre of expertise on Asia and the leading pan-Asian organisation in the UK.

About this year's winner

Ms Ho Ching joined Temasek as a Director in January 2002 and became its Executive Director in May 2002. From 1 January 2004 she was appointed to the position of Executive Director and CEO.

She started her career in 1976 with the Singapore Ministry of Defence where she held various senior positions in the Defence Science Organisation and was appointed Director of the Defence Materiel Organisation in 1986. She was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Silver, 1985). She joined the Singapore Technologies Group in 1987 as its Director of Engineering and was appointed President and CEO from April 1997 to December 2001.

Ho Ching held positions as Chairman of the Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research, Deputy Chairman of the National Productivity and Quality Council and Deputy Chairman of the Economic Development Board in the 1990s.

Awarded the Public Service Star (1996), Ms Ho is a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus of the National University of Singapore and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Engineering, Singapore. She holds a BEng (Hons) from the University of Singapore and an MSc (Electrical Engineering) from Stanford University, USA.

Ms Ho is married with four children.
