Hong Kong Science Park Photo Contest 2012 Kicked Off with "Go Green in Style"

Green Life in a Snap, Green Future for the City

HONG KONG, July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Entering its fourth year, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC) takes the idea of green living to a new level in Hong Kong Science Park Photo Contest 2012. Themed "Go Green in Style" this year, the annual Contest encourages the community to unleash creativity by sharing unique green moments through digital photography and to experience the concept of "Like Tech Like Green". Photography enthusiasts are welcomed to submit entries from today onwards and join themed workshops with their families in August to enjoy the fun of photography.

To extend the idea of green lifestyle beyond the premises of Science Park, a new category, "Green Life in a Snap" is set up which allows participants to capture everyday green moments in their daily life; the original category "Green Vision in the Park" is kept which accepts snapshots taken at the park. Participants aged 16 or below are encouraged to join the "Young Photographer" category to discover their creativity.

Delighted with the new category, Mr. E. Anthony Tan, Chief Executive Officer of HKSTPC said, "The concept of environmental protection is undoubtedly gaining momentum in our society. As Hong Kong Science Park Phase 3 is scheduled for completion in stages from end 2013, we believe that green living is a subject closely related to everyone, HKSTPC is going to broaden our role in influencing the public in green initiatives. By urging participants to experience green innovation and explore green moments in their daily life, the Contest aims to inspire people to adapt a greener lifestyle and jointly contribute to a sustainable future for Hong Kong."

Pop-star group C AllStar is the Contest Ambassador this year while the panel judges include Mr. E. Anthony Tan, Chief Executive Officer of HKSTPC, and other respected authorities in photography, namely Mr. Julian Lee, Associate Professor, School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong; Mr. Peter Poon, Renowned Photographer; Mr. Tse Ming Chong, Chairman of Lumenvisum; and Dr. Joseph Yeung, Chairman of Greater China Photographic Society. Among the attractive prizes worth a total of well over HK$100,000, participants will win travel and accommodation packages, photography equipment and the latest interactive video game consoles etc. From now till 10 September 2012, participants can simply submit their entries or cast their votes on our Facebook (www.facebook.com/HongKongSciencePark). The entries with the largest number of "Likes" will be the winner of "My Favourite Photo Award". The final results will be announced at the Digital Creation Day cum Award Presentation Ceremony in October.

In addition, a series of themed workshops will be organised, namely "Science Park Night View Photography Workshop" on 11 August, "Documentary Photography Workshop" on 12 August, "Family Light Painting Workshop" on 18 August and "Family Child Portrait Photography Workshop" on 19 August. Participants can learn specific photography skills and tips from experienced tutors in the four themed workshops. It will certainly be the best summer cool activity for families to enjoy the fun of photography.
