HONG KONG, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- New World Facilities Management Company Limited ("NWFM") and Youth Square have received for the first time the Gold Award (Website Stream) and the Silver Award (Website Stream) respectively in the Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme 2015 co-organised by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and the Equal Opportunities Commission, in recognition of its effort on making the website accessible to facilitate different users (including persons with disabilities and special needs), thereby contributing to a caring and inclusive society.
NWFM which manages and operates Youth Square is a non-profit making company with an endeavor to create a barrier-free environment and culture. NWFM not only makes the website accessible for different users, but also provides users with remodeled passageways, special facilities and signs, parking space, accessible rooms in Y Loft and trainings of wheelchair use and workshop of guide dogs to employees to encourage communication with the disabled. In addition, NWFM has received the List of Barrier-free Companies/Organisations by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service for two consecutive years, in recognition of its support on creating a barrier-free environment and culture.
The Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme has been jointly organised by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and the Equal Opportunities Commission since 2013. It aims at showing appreciation to enterprises and organisations for making their websites and mobile apps accessible. To be awarded Gold Award (Website Stream), the participating enterprise and organisation had to attain Sliver Award level and meet all 10 judging criteria under Gold Category for better accessibility; to be awarded Silver Award (Website Stream), the participating enterprise and organisation had to meet all 14 judging criteria under Sliver Category to provide basic web accessibility features.
