NextGen Auto International Summit China: Presenting the Opportunities and Challenges of Smart, Lightweight and Green Energy Vehicles

HONG KONG, September 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The third edition of NextGen Auto International Summit China, organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, will return once again to the Kerry Hotel Pudong in Shanghai on 9 December 2014. With a theme of "Leading the Revolution in Auto Parts", the summit will explore hot topics around smart, lightweight and green energy vehicle development, and how vehicle and auto parts manufacturers can prepare themselves for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the industry.

NextGen Auto focuses primarily on issues related to new generation vehicles, and at this year's edition, has a particular focus on two areas: new energy trends predicted by vehicle manufacturers, and guiding OEMs towards competitive development. Influential industry experts from leading firms such as BMW, Volkswagen, Tesla, Volvo, SAIC and Toyota, as well as reputable senior managers from auto enterprises will be in attendance, allowing participants to exchange ideas and discuss the future developments of innovative technologies with industry leaders.

Recently, both the central Chinese government and a number of local governments have introduced a range of policies supporting new energy vehicles. Furthermore, the National Development and Reform Commission has announced a policy of free electricity at electric vehicle charging stations until the year 2020. There are also proposed reductions of new energy vehicle parking fees, fuel and sewage charges in the industry, as well as the waiving of licence fees for new energy vehicles. These policies will enhance the rapid development of next generation automobiles, and shape the future development of the automotive industry. How vehicle manufactures and auto parts suppliers can manage their partnership to deliver the changes needed in the industry is, therefore, a key focus of the summit.

This year's summit comprises of one main session and two tracks. The main session will explore the development trends, opportunities and challenges of NextGen Auto. Topics cover:

  • The future trends in the automobile industry and new opportunities for auto parts production enterprises
  • Making cars smart
  • Development strategy of the next-gen vehicle and its equipment requirements for potential suppliers
  • Global sourcing strategy for international brands
  • BMW Brilliance: The product plan of new-energy vehicles
  • Volvo: New-energy vehicle plan

Track one will highlight new-energy and smart vehicles. Topics include:

  • Development status of EV parts technology in Germany and future cooperation with Chinese auto parts manufacturers
  • Development features of new-energy vehicles and their supply requirements
  • New-energy vehicle electric motor technology and opportunities for traditional motor companies
  • The application of Li-Po technology in the automobile industry

Track two will focus on lightweight automobiles. Discussions will cover:

  • The status of new material applications in the Japanese automobile industry
  • Future applications of new materials in vehicles
  • Carbon fibre material R&D in Germany and its application in China
  • The R&D status and application of aluminium and magnesium in the industry

The above topics are tentative and subject to change by the organiser.

To further add to the benefits for participants, NextGen Auto International China Summit 2014 will be held concurrently with Automechanika Shanghai, Asia's largest event for auto parts, accessories, equipment and services, which takes place from 9 - 12 December at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
