RICS Awards 2008 Now Call for Entries

HONG KONG, Nov. 7 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- The RICS Awards 2008, recognized as the 'Oscars' of property professionals, are now open for entries. Anyone involving in delivering outstanding property projects are encouraged to submit their entries starting from this month onwards. Developed by RICS to celebrate the best new projects in the built and natural environment, the awards are free to enter. Entries need to be submitted by 18 January 2008 for the 2008 Awards.

The awards are just one of the ways RICS promotes best practice in the built and natural environment, which consist of four categories: building conservation; regeneration; sustainability and community benefit. Winners must show a commitment to value for money and sustainability, as well as being the best in their category.

One project each year is chosen every year to receive the distinguished 'Project of the Year' award. Winners of this judges' award are specifically selected for their outstanding use of property professional skills -- regenerating, developing and conserving the environment in which we live. Project of the Year Award 2007 was the iconic Oxford Castle.

In 2007, for the first time, HK project, Lek Yuen Estate and Sha Kok Estate, is short-listed into this prestigious global award program.

The winners in 2007 are; Oxford Castle (Project of the Year), Kew Palace, Richmond (Building Conservation); Arsenal Regeneration Project, London (Regeneration); The Rivergreen Centre, Durham (Sustainability); St Paul's Church, Bristol (Community Benefit) and New Bewerley Community School and Children's Centre, Leeds (Judge's special award -- Inclusive Environment).
