SINGAPORE, Jan. 8 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Rajan Srikanth, 44, has joined Mercer Human Resource Consulting to head the Asia region and to lead Mercer's Human Capital Advisory Services (HCAS) in Asia. He will be based in Chennai, India.

The appointment was announced by M. Michele Burns, Chief Executive Officer of Mercer Human Resource Consulting. Mr. Srikanth will report to Ms. Burns in his capacity as Asia Region Head, and to Greg Cornish, Global Leader, Human Capital Advisory Services, in his HCAS role.

"Srikanth's broad-ranging international background is an excellent match for Mercer's growth and leadership goals in Asia," said Ms. Burns. "Human Capital needs are expanding dramatically in Asia, and Mercer is already a major consultant in the region. By adding a leader of Srikanth's experience and reputation, we are building upon our strong team and signaling a commitment to this market and to a significant global expansion of our business."

"Srikanth will be instrumental in enhancing our talent offering through leadership development, talent management and rewards consulting with leading Asia prospects and clients," said Mr. Cornish. "His strong background in organizational design and organizational effectiveness, coupled with his experience in leading a change strategy practice, will be valued by clients determined to succeed in the competitive global marketplace."

"I am delighted to be joining Mercer as the head of the Asia region, especially at a time when our firm can have an influential role in helping companies address the issues that are critical to continued success both in Asia and globally," said Mr. Srikanth.

"Companies in Asia are enjoying unprecedented opportunity for growth," Mr. Srikanth observed, "but the biggest constraint is the acute competition for talent. The companies that will emerge as winners will be those that attract the best and brightest people, that motivate and develop their workforce, and that retain talented individuals because they become the employer of choice."

"With specialist expertise and a range of products and solutions in all human resource areas, from compensation, performance management and operational effectiveness to retirement and health benefits, Mercer is uniquely positioned to add value to clients seeking people solutions," noted Mr. Srikanth. "We are the global leader in human resource consulting, with global reach and more than 30 years experience in the Asian markets. No firm in the human resource field has been more recognized for its expertise, a fact that is reflected in numerous awards we have received in Asia for our consulting work. As a firm, Mercer looks forward to contributing to Asia's continued success and the region's larger role in the global economy."

Mr. Srikanth joins Mercer Human Resource Consulting from Accenture where he was Executive Partner and global lead for the firm's organizational change strategy practice. In that capacity, he had direct oversight of 150 consultants located in the US, Europe and Asia and coordinated the firm's thought leadership, capability and business development in this area. Previously, from 1997 to 2004, he was based in San Francisco with Mercer Delta Consulting, as Partner and consulted with CEOs and other senior corporate leaders on strategic organizational change. He has also been a consultant with a unit of KPMG Peat Marwick and with Bain & Company. From 1990 to 1995 Srikanth was assistant professor at the Walter A. Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.
