SHANGHAI, October 25, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Tudou Holdings Limited (NASDAQ: TUDO) ("Tudou" or the "Company"), a leading online video company in China, today announced that the Company has entered into an agreement with The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) ("Disney") for the online distribution rights to the Pixar animation movie, Cars 2, in Mainland China.
This marks the first time that a full-length film from Disney's Pixar Animation Studios has been made available through an online video website in Mainland China. Pursuant to the agreement, Disney has licensed to Tudou the rights for Cars 2, which began airing on Tudou.com on October 24, 2011. Cars 2 is available for on-demand viewing on Tudou's website for a fee. Viewers can choose among Mandarin, Cantonese or English language versions. The Chinese version of the film features the voices of a number of popular Chinese movie stars including Yao Chen, Huang Lei, and Fan Wei.
The release of Cars 2 through Tudou's website in Mainland China represents both companies' latest efforts in seeking further cooperation catering to millions of Chinese Internet users with premium video content. In September of this year, Tudou licensed the rights to a number of Disney's hit American TV Dramas produced by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), including Revenge Season 1, Castle Season 1-4 and Desperate Housewives Season 8. Earlier this year on June 1, 2011, Children's Day in China, Tudou secured licensing rights to the premiering of Disney's latest film series for Winnie the Pooh in Chinese.
