LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Los Angeles Auto Show's Connected Car Expo® (CCE), the auto industry's authoritative gathering of automotive and technology leaders, announced today that Volvo Car Group President & CEO, Hakan Samuelsson, will be the headline speaker at the Nov. 18 conference. Volvo is one of several automakers and technology companies already set to make groundbreaking technology news and discuss how the connected car will define and shape the future of transportation.

In an exclusive interview with CNET's Brian Cooley, Samuelsson will share his vision for the future of not just Volvo, but the entire automotive industry, and explain how he intends to make good on his promise that no one would be killed or seriously injured in a Volvo vehicle by 2020. Samuelsson will also present at a press conference to debut the brand's "Drive Me" autonomous vehicle (showcasing autonomous lane following, speed adaption and merging traffic capabilities). At the helm since 2012, the Swedish automaker's chief executive is credited with orchestrating the brand's successful comeback to emerge as one of the most technologically advanced premium brands on the market.

In addition to the Volvo news, Audi and NVIDIA will demonstrate how automotive innovation and infotainment are accelerating by bringing the development cycles of cars in line with the latest consumer electronic breakthroughs. Both companies will also preview what's to come with the next generation of Audi's modular infotainment platform (MIB), powered by NVIDIA.

Ford will have an important presence at CCE, featuring the company's Connected Car-Connected City App Pursuit finalists. The finalists used data generated by Ford vehicles and gathered from the City of Los Angeles respectively, to create innovative apps during the first phase of the App Pursuit that took place at Super Mobility Week in September. The winner of Ford's competition will be announced at the LA Auto Show's Connected City Summit on Thursday, Nov. 20.

Jaguar Land Rover is the latest automaker to announce that it will make big news and exhibit at CCE. The British luxury automaker will be holding its news conference about new technology coming to its product lines on Tuesday, Nov. 18 (details are yet to be announced).

While not holding an official press conference, both Hyundai and GM's OnStar will be making news at CCE. Hyundai will showcase its core interior design principles of safety, intuitiveness and simplicity inside its CCE booth. Executives will demonstrate the Genesis Intelligent Assistant, Blue Link 3.0 app, Assurance Car Care in-vehicle app, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Hyundai expects to be one of the first manufacturers to bring CarPlay and Android Auto to market.

OnStar will be demonstrating its newest generation of telematics with 4G LTE connectivity, which will bring integrated Wi-Fi hotspots and other enhancements to more than 30 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles by the end of 2014; OnStar will also be illustrating the possibilities of a vehicle with an embedded high-speed data connection.

On Nov. 18, all press conferences will be held on the floor of CCE. All registered CCE attendees as well as journalists registered for the LA Auto Show Press & Trade Days are welcome to attend. Only the CCE exhibit areas (located in South Hall Lobby) will be open on Nov. 18; all remaining halls will be accessible on Nov. 19 and 20.

In addition to the exhibit areas and press conferences, CCE will feature a full day of presentations and expert talks. Show organizers are introducing the Connected City Summit on Nov. 20.
