Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone Reach out to Talents

WUHAN, China, Dec. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Fudan University in Shanghai was filled with companies from central China's Wuhan City on Dec. 6. Excited students swarmed to check out employment information in the city's Economic & Technological Development Zone. Against a signboard with a slogan "Entrepreneurial dreams realized in Wuhan," established alumni shared their thoughts; overseas young graduates asked questions; and officials from the zone's administration committee extended the olive branch to the young talents.

It was a stop of the city's larger campaign to "solicit a million university graduates to work in Wuhan." A total of 21 companies with over 800 posts were recruiting employees in Fudan. Also on the same day, a work station for talents in Shanghai was established, which aimed to introduce global talents to the development zone with Shanghai as its "recruitment bridgehead."

"We must try our best, with most favorable policies and sincerity, best environment and services, to attract talents from all over the world to settle and start business in Wuhan," said an official with the committee.

According to Wei Jianxin, director of the work station, a key industrial high-end professional talent database will be built to bring in talents and projects relating to intelligent manufacturing, medical treatment, information, education, urban industry, modern agriculture, military and civilian integration as well as culturally creative industry. About 10 to 20 high-level talents from China and overseas are expected to be introduced in 2018.

The city government of Wuhan has been vigorously promoting the campaign and forging Wuhan into "the most friendly city to college students."

Gao Ziping, director of the research center of overseas talents information under the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, said Chinese cities attached great attention to talent introduction. He said Wuhan as a national central city with its advantageous location, pleasant urban ecological environment, enormous scientific and research strength, and rational industrial distribution, has great appeal to high-end talents.

The development zone has long been known as China's "capital of automobiles." But it has transformed itself into a "capital of robots, smart home, and general aviation" with automobile and parts as well as electronics as its core, supported by intelligent equipment, new materials, new energy, navigation and satellite, and food and beverage, and supplemented by modern service industry.

Today's development zone is home to a group of world-renowned companies such as Dongfeng Automobiles, and over 40,000 professional and technical talents.

Currently, it has set up talent work stations in the United States, Germany and Australia, and introduced 11 academicians and over 20 experts on the country's Recruitment Program of Global Experts list. More than 1,000 foreign employees work and live in the zone.

"Our development zone is transforming and developing rapidly, and in urgent need of talents. Here will become a hot land for you to realize your dreams," said an official from the zone's organization department.
