Yangxian County is in the south of Shaanxi Province, east of Hanzhong Basin, south of Qinling and north of Bashan Mountain. The Hanjiang River flows across the west to the east of the county, which has gained the title of "a bright pearl in the Hanjiang River." Now the county is famous as the home of the crested ibis.

It is the only county in Hanzhong, or even in southern Shaanxi, where both panda and crested ibis are protected in two national natural reserve zones. It's quite rare nationwide that the crested ibis, panda, golden monkey, and takin, which were called "the four treasures of Qinling", inhabit the same county together.
