- Hotel Guests Have Voted Hotels in Tokyo in First Place

- Major Cities Such as London, Moscow and New York Have Slipped Back

- The Price Performance of Chinese Hotels is Competitive by International Standards; Nanjing is the top Chinese City

NUREMBERG, Germany, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- "Was your hotel room worth the price you paid?" This is the question currently being investigated by http://www.hotel.info , the free online hotel reservation service for 210,000 hotels worldwide. http://www.hotel.info is analysing the 600,000 hotel ratings of hotel.info booking customers from around the world in terms of the price performance of 3 and 4 star hotels.

The hotel.info Value for Money Index at the end of 2008 reveals the following, sometimes surprising, results: guests consider that hotels in Tokyo, Japan represent the best value for money on the world stage. Major cities such as New York, Moscow and London are disappointing in contrast, not even making it into the top 20. In a comparison of major Chinese cities, Nanjing turns out to be the winner, with a remarkable Value for Money Index of 9.83. Nanjing herewith achieved the top position among all major cities worldwide.

What is also remarkable: none of the international capital cities was able to achieve more than 8 points (out of 10) in the ranking. The top score at an international level was 7.84 points (Tokyo). Lisbon (7.71) and Prague (7.66) occupy places 2 and 3. China's capital Beijing reaches a valuable fifth place with a Value for Money Index of 7.35.

Overall, however, hotels in major Chinese cities fared well at an international level in terms of value for money.
