LONDON, Sept. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AWC, the London based merchant of fine wine and spirits has appointed a new Asia Sales Director, Jean Philippe Guillot, who will be leading the company's continued expansion in the region.
Jean Philippe brings specialist knowledge of wine sales in the Asian markets. He attended European Business School in his native France before moving to Vietnam where he joined The Warehouse-Hanoi, the country's leading premium wine importer. He took the role of Regional Sales Manager at parent company Annam Group, where he was responsible for the growth of the organisation's northern Vietnam operation with a turnover of US $2m. Guillot then moved to Hong Kong, joining Bernard Magrez Grand Vignobles Proprietaire as Asia Sales Manager before becoming Export Director Asia Pacific, where he was accountable for the development of sales in more than 20 countries, building the brand and managing the relationships with distributors.
Jean Philippe's role is a new one for AWC, as the company expands its fine wine sales in Asia. He will lead AWC's Asian private client and trade activity primarily in Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines and Macau as well as developing secondary markets including mainland China, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. In particular, he will be focusing on growing AWC's Philippines operations, with the goal of becoming the biggest wine distributor in the country within three years.
Working with the team in the Philippines and in conjunction with the Sofitel Manila, Jean Philippe is helping to organise a Chateau Haut-Brion dinner in Manila on 10th September which will raise funds for victims of Typhoon Haiyan. AWC is working with the Chateau to coordinate donation of the wines that will accompany a six course gourmet dinner at the Sofitel Hotel. All event proceeds will go to the Aboitiz Foundation, which supports victims of the typhoon.
