Perfect World CEO Attends 8th Summer Davos Forum

BEIJING, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The 8th Summer Davos Forum was held in Tianjin, China, on September 10. Over 1,600 guests from 90 countries and regions worldwide attended the forum, where they discussed economic topics based on the theme "Driving Innovation and Creating Value". Many of the guests were representatives from Chinese companies. Of note, Perfect World CEO Xiao Hong attended the forum as a representative of Chinese internet companies, after having attended last year's Summer Davos Forum held in Dalian.

The Davos Forum, also known as the World Economic Forum, is a non-official international agency that studies and engages in discussion on issues concerning the world economy and promotes international economic cooperation and communication. The Summer Davos Forum, also called the Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum, has been held in China since 2007, with the aim of creating an interactive cooperation platform where global growth companies can jointly plan industrial and commercial development projects and dialogue with the Global 1000 companies as well as with national and regional governments.

Over the last few years, the Chinese economy has achieved amazing growth and the country's international influence is ever increasing. As the country with the largest number of online users worldwide, its internet industry is playing a more and more important role in the national economy. The game sector, an important part of the internet ecosystem, is increasingly becoming a power and a force in its own right driving the development of the country's internet economy.

Given these trends, Perfect World, as one of the representatives of China's internet companies, has attracted much attention. As one of the internet companies with the strongest research and development strength in China, the game developer not only owns three proprietary engine platforms - Angelica 3D game engine, Cube 2.5D engine and EPARCH 2D engine, its PWIM investment arm has also acquired many of the world's leading game studios. Perfect World is the proprietary owner of many exciting user-end, mobile and web games, and is the designated third-party game developer for Microsoft in China.

Perfect World's games, among them DOTA2, Return of the Condor HeroesCross Gate and Swordsman Online are very popular among players. The game developer has been focusing on global expansion since 2006, having evolved from the initial stage of simply being an exporter and licensing products to the second stage of establishing independent operating subsidiaries in foreign countries, and then to the third stage of investing in overseas teams. Now the firm is in the fourth stage: establishing itself as a Chinese game exporter that integrates resources worldwide and develop products for users worldwide. Perfect World has become a world-class game developer that maintains a presence in the Chinese market while achieving growth in global markets.

The success achieved by Perfect World is not only based on its position as a world-class game developer, but also lies in the fact that Chinese internet companies, represented by Perfect World, are playing an increasingly important role in China's economic development. The country's internet companies are and will continue to become an even more vital component of economic and cultural systems worldwide.
