SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Hack Day, a global grassroots science movement aimed at empowering scientific innovation, today announced it will host, in cooperation with Thomson Reuters EndNote, San Francisco's fifth annual Science Hack Day event October 4-5 at software company GitHub's headquarters on Brannan Street.
On Saturday, October 4, nearly 200 innovators from San Francisco's tech, science and design communities will gather at GitHub's offices for 48 consecutive hours to participate in a fun competition to build the best scientific prototype, or "hack." As a global movement designed to connect individuals from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds, Science Hack Day has held over 30 events in a dozen countries since its launch in 2010. Since its beginnings, every year, Science Hack Day San Francisco has been the movement's premier and largest event throughout the world. Last year saw the creation of 38 new scientific prototypes ranging from a personal planetarium, a robotic ukulele to a mobile application that encourages users to drive less aggressively.
