SHANGHAI, May 15 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Rohm and Haas Company (NYSE: ROH) on May 14 announced that it would donate an initial RMB500,000 aid to a China disaster relief agency in China in support of the disaster areas and victims of the massive earthquake in Sichuan Province, China. Meanwhile, Rohm and Haas is also calling for voluntary donations from employees.
A major earthquake registering 7.8 on the Richter scale hit China's southwest province Sichuan on May 12th. It was the most disastrous earthquake in China in the past 32 years and loss of life is estimated to be upwards of 12,000 people by the morning of May 14th.
