CHICAGO and SINGAPORE, Nov. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) clients Alexandra Health System and Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS) have achieved Stage 6, the second-highest level attainable on the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM), for Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) in Yishun, Singapore.

KTPH is a 590-bed general and acute-care hospital managed by the northern healthcare cluster, Alexandra Health System (AHS). Opened in June 2010, KTPH offers a comprehensive range of medical services and specialist care to serve the healthcare needs of more than 700,000 people in the north of Singapore.

To enhance information flow and work processes, IHiS, which manages IT systems for all Singapore public healthcare institutions, and KTPH embrace the use of technology to deliver efficient patient care. This includes the use of Allscripts solutions such as Allscripts Sunrise Clinical ManagerTM, Allscripts Sunrise PharmacyTM, Allscripts Sunrise Emergency CareTM and Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Analytics.

HIMSS EMRAM is a methodology that measures the progress and impact of electronic health record (EHR) systems for organisations in the HIMSS Analytics Database. According to HIMSS Analytics, there are eight stages (0-7) that measure a hospital's implementation and use of information technology applications. The second-highest stage, Stage 6, comprises institutions that have established clear goals for improving safety, minimising errors and prioritising IT implementations.

According to HIMSS International, as of the end of the second quarter of 2014, only 3.1 per cent of hospitals in Asia Pacific tracked by HIMSS had Stage 6 or 7 capabilities. Across the US, Canada, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East, just 12.9 per cent of more than 8,274 hospitals had achieved these benchmarks as of the end of the second quarter of 2014.

"We're thrilled to congratulate KTPH on achieving this HIMSS Analytics milestone, as we know their patients will benefit," said Rich Berner, President, Allscripts International. "We look forward to working with the team at KTPH to keep improving health care for the citizens of Singapore."

KTPH is one of just six hospitals in Singapore to reach HIMSS EMRAM Stage 6, including other Allscripts clients - SingHealth's KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Singapore General Hospital and Eastern Health Alliance's Changi General Hospital. In addition, Allscripts public specialty centre client National Heart Centre Singapore has also achieved Stage 6.
