METRO China Upgrades Logistics Management through Strategic Partnerships with Shuanghui and DCH

SHANGHAI, Dec. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- METRO Cash & Carry has united two industry giants, leading cold-chain logistics providers Luohe Shuanghui Logistics Investment Co., Ltd. (Shuanghui Logistics) and Shanghai Dah Chong Hong Logistics Co., Ltd. (Shanghai DCH) today, to upgrade cold chain logistics management. By the strategic partnerships METRO China has laid a solid foundation for its long-term development in China.

With 79 locations across 55 cities nationwide, METRO China has extensive reach in China. Powered by the new partnerships, METRO will upgrade its cold chain logistics, covering more than 5,000 products from a wide range of assortments, including fruits, vegetables, frozen foods, dairy products, bean products, meat, and fish, for all stores across the country.

METRO China will work closely with Shuanghui Logistics to improve cold chain delivery. With powerful transportation capabilities, Shuanghui Logistics is able to set multiple routes and provide the vehicles best suited to different product types. These professional-grades, dual-temperature vehicles, along with the company's experienced personnel, will help METRO shorten delivery times, ensuring product freshness and quality, and enhancing efficiency - ultimately benefitting its customers.

Through partnership with Shanghai DCH, METRO China is now also well equipped with temperature-controlled warehousing, with temperatures ranging from ultra-low, low, and constant to ambient to better ensure food safety and quality. The improved storage services are possible thanks to Shanghai DCH's cold storage distribution center in Shanghai Hongqiao; logistics centers in North, Central, and Southwest China; and valuable experiences in retail warehousing.

METRO China is the only wholesaler in China with all stores HACCP-certified. Its two cold chain logistics partners also strictly follow the standards of the HACCP and ISO international quality assurance systems.

A nationwide logistics network supports multi-channel strategy

METRO will leverage its partners' nationwide cold chain storage and warehousing support to further optimize its sales network and strengthen the development of its multi-channel businesses. In the future METRO China will also build new distribution centers in major cities in Central and Western China, in addition to its existing ones in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
