LONDON, December 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

Leading automotive manufacturers including Geely, Changan Automobile, Chery, Great Wall Motors, Nissan, SAIC Motors, FAW- Volkswagen and more will reveal their strategies for mass producing fuel efficient and reduced CO2 emission vehicles from the 26th- 27th March in Shanghai next year.

The Asian automotive industry is pioneering new lightweight vehicles that were previously commercially unthinkable due to material and manufacturing technology cost restraints. A new fuel-efficient, CO2 reduced future awaits as a result of ground breaking multi-material joining and forming technologies, commercially focused implementation strategies and cost-effective high-strength steel, aluminium, magnesium and composite supply channels.

The 2nd Global Automotive Lightweight Materials Asia 2015 congress is Asia's most practical, applications-focused lightweight conference, and attracts a higher percentage of local and international OEM speakers than any other event in China. More than 20 OEM-led case studies will provide practical solutions to help reduce the cost of lightweighting. They will cover which materials work best, the cost and availability of materials, which joining materials to use and how to integrate these new technologies into the existing manufacturing facilities.

Fei Xiong, Chief Engineer at Geely Automobile Research Institution who chaired the 2014 conference says "GALM Asia offers a social network for all delegates. Whether to do with lightweighting or design, delegates can learn from the experiences of global companies to take back and apply to their own work. I believe that sharing knowledge and information can make our industry grow faster and further."

This conference is one of three global congresses held each year, attended by more than 1700 automotive experts. The GALM Series is renowned globally for hosting the most OEM-led congresses; all three of which are designed carefully in conjunction with lightweight Engineers and Directors every year to ensure the most practical knowledge is exchanged at every event.
