HONG KONG, Jan. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Rubicon Communications Ltd, publisher of Time Out Hong Kong magazine and M life magazine for MGM Macau, announced today that it has acquired WOM Guide, Hong Kong's favourite independent restaurant guide, founded 10 years ago by well-known social personalities and food lovers Fergus Fung and Samanta Pong.

Known for its savvy band of independent reviewers, and informative and witty commentary, WOM (short for Word Of Mouth) is a lifestyle platform comprising an indispensable annual restaurant guide, engaging website and popular events catering to Hong Kong's urban professionals who love dining out. Since its launch, WOM has quickly grown to become a well-loved brand, with its signature 'bite mark' logo, and is consistently a top seller at major bookstores in Hong Kong.

Recently released editions of 200 Dishes To Try Before Moving To Mars and WOM GUIDE TOP 10 reflect the innovative editorial style Fergus Fung and Samanta Pong are known for. WOM is also the proud recipient of the "2010 SME Entrepreneurship Award" by the Hong Kong Chamber of Small and Medium Business.

The Founders, who frequently participate as judges at the region's top food awards, will continue to lead the brand with their unique voices, while Rubicon Communications Ltd will provide additional operational resources to fully realise the brand's potential and expand regionally. WOM will continue to be written by its expert editorial panel.

"We are thrilled to be working with the Rubicon team, which has built Time Out Hong Kong into a significant lifestyle and entertainment platform," says Fergus Fung. "There are a lot of synergies and shared visions between us, with an aim to further strengthen WOM's unique position."

"Hong Kong is the food capital of Asia and there is so much potential in expanding our product offerings, which savvy consumers are hungry for," says WOM co-founder Samanta Pong. "This new partnership will enable us to grow even quicker within the region. We look forward to greeting our loyal readers and business partners with new ideas and content."

Founded in 2008, Rubicon Communications Ltd publishes the multi-award winning Time Out Hong Kong magazine and runs a custom publishing operation as well as an events arm that organises the highly popular Time Out Wine Walk. Rubicon Communications Ltd also publishes the China edition of M life magazine for MGM Macau, which targets Macau-bound jetsetters from China and around the world.

"All of us at Rubicon Communications are excited to be forming a new partnership with WOM," says Associate Publisher, Mei Tan. "We have seen such a strong interest in food and lifestyle content and WOM is without a doubt the best known Hong Kong brand, which will only add value to our portfolio. The passion and commitment of Fergus and Samanta in sharing the best of Hong Kong's restaurant scene is undisputed and we look forward to introducing new print and digital products that reflect the dynamic lifestyle and taste of our city."
