Huawei "Green Communication" Routers Awarded TUV Rheinland Green Product Certification

2015-04-21 12:00 3290

HONG KONG, April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Internationally renowned independent service provider inspection, testing and certification body, TUV Rheinland Group (TUV Rheinland), recently announced that Huawei's series of five routers -- the NE20E, NE40E, CX600, CX600 (China only) and PTN6900 -- had passed its green product certification. This success proves that Huawei's cutting-edge routers lead the industry in reduced energy consumption, and more generally that Huawei has made significant advances in developing energy-saving products. The certified Huawei routers can help enterprises and operators to build data centres and deliver services that realise "green communication and green life".

As an international leader in ICT and solution provision, Huawei continuously innovates based on customer needs. It has also launched five series of routers for different regions. Each series has models with different bandwidths -- M2E, M2F, M4, M8 and M16 -- to provide flexible support for different NIC products. The five series inherited the design concept of Huawei's core routers to support high-efficiency power modules, thus enabling individual switching based on different work modes at different bandwidths for data links (SerDes) to save on chip power consumption. They also include modular and part-universal design supported by various exclusive and innovative energy-saving technologies. Three work modes (basic, standard, deep) enable customers to experience different ways of saving energy.

Huawei always focuses on the pursuit of excellence in technological innovation and process capability. While building network products and solutions that satisfy user demand, it spares no efforts in making continuous improvements in energy-saving technology. To validate the excellent energy-saving performance of high-end core routers and the continuation of outstanding energy-saving characteristics in low-end routers, Huawei submitted them to TUV Rheinland's demanding testing process. In areas ranging from energy efficiency and power consumption measurement to chemical substance tests, and from recyclability to carbon footprint assessment, Huawei's products have passed TUV Rheinland's green product certification.

TUV Rheinland's Green Product Certification

TUV Rheinland's Green Product Certification is a voluntary sustainability certification that brings recognition to consumer products with the least impact on the environment. Our Green Product Certification is based on a safety evaluation of the product against various regulatory requirements, and a social Compliance Check for the product manufacturer. Additionally, we focus on four key dimensions: the responsible use of chemical substances, recyclability & the usage of recycled materials, energy consumption & efficiency, and determination of the product's carbon footprint. TUV Rheinland issues its Green Product Mark to certified products, which helps companies to demonstrate their corporate commitment and their products' international competitiveness to brands and retailers. The mark also gives buyers and end-consumers guidance in identifying green and sustainable products in the often-crowded marketplace.
