NEW YORK, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- No other living architect can look back at such a long and illustrious career as I.M. Pei. Born on April 26, 1917 in Guanzhou China, Ieoh Ming Pei is often called the master of modern architecture.

Living and working in New York since 1948, Pei is the creative force behind prominent structures such as the Bank of China building in Hong Kong, Dallas City Hall, the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan and the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.

The Pyramid of the Louvre in Paris was one of the architect's most challenging assignments - he made it to one of his most spectacular successes, attracting over five million visitors every year.

Geometric designs, large abstract forms and a unique use of light are the main elements of Pei's signature style; many of the more than 50 buildings he designed still stand out today and impress with power and clarity.

When he received his Pritzker Prize in 1983, the jury stated that he "has given this century some of its most beautiful interior spaces and exterior forms."

The only condominium building I.M. Pei ever designed, together with son Sandi, is located in Midtown Manhattan, just steps from Fifth Avenue and Central Park. A quiet oasis in the center of vibrant New York, apartments at the building have become collector's items. A few units, including three penthouses, are still available directly from the developer, priced between $4.9 million and $15.5 million.

Those who want to make a Pei building their home or take advantage of the opportunity to invest in the strong New York real estate market, can simply visit the website of the building's brokers, www.NYR.com, send an email centurion@newyorkresidence.com or call +1 (212) 360.7000.

The Centurion honors its architect with a large birthday party - residents of the building, people who worked on the project and celebrities from the world of real estate, finance and the arts are coming together. The birthday cake of course has the shape of a pyramid....
