HONG KONG, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 6th "Triumph Sky High" Junior Programme hosted by Hong Kong Airlines closed with a big bang today.  Accompanied by actor Him Law Chung-him, the event ambassador, a group of primary students from Tsuen Wan Catholic Primary School visited airport facilities and boarded an aircraft to have direct interaction with the flight crew members who shared with students aviation knowledge and flight experiences.  Ever since the launch of the Programme last year, Hong Kong Airlines has already brought this unique flight visit experience to near 200 local students from different schools and backgrounds. The purpose of the Programme is to equip the next generation with general aviation knowledge that cultivates their interest in the field.

To maintain Hong Kong's position as the transportation hub of the world, it is pivotal to nurture a strong pool of talents in the aviation industry. According to the 2015 Policy Address, the Government will step up its efforts to strengthen the development of aviation industry and nurture talents. Mr. Li Dianchun, Commercial Director of Hong Kong Airlines, said, "Rooted and headquartered in this city, Hong Kong Airlines is committed to promoting the development of Hong Kong's aviation industry. The "Triumph Sky High" Junior Programme offers students exposure to the aviation industry to gain a better understanding of the industry, widening their horizons and thus cultivating their interest in this field."

The Programme has received overwhelming response from schools ever since its launch, and has received more than a hundred applications so far.  Led by Hong Kong Airlines staff, students visited the catering service centre and check-in counters to learn about how meals are prepared and the daily operation of ground services.  Students then boarded a Hong Kong Airlines aircraft, entered the cockpit and cabins to hear from pilots and crew members their first-hand flight experiences.  Some students even dressed in pilots' and flight attendants' uniforms and performed inflight duties.

Students were impressed with the exciting visits which had deeply increased their interest in the aviation industry. Some expressed right after the event their ambitions to become pilots.  Hearing from students these encouraging feedbacks, Hong Kong Airlines will continue to hold the "Triumph Sky High" Junior Programme later this year to offer more students the exposure to the aviation industry.
