MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprises have struggled for years with how to balance the escalating needs of line-of-business employees with the resource constraints that force IT to deploy new technologies in a more deliberate manner. Corporate business units sometimes find themselves circumventing approved IT procurement processes to gain the SaaS services they need to work effectively. But doing so can introduce unintended consequences, such as security and compliance risks, into the enterprise.

Today, IT has new options that allow for faster development and deployment of much-needed enterprise services while still maintaining high security and compliance. The latest iteration of hybrid cloud infrastructures mitigate such concerns and remove many of the primary reasons that line-of-business employees use unapproved SaaS services. With its flexible, highly scalable architecture, the new hybrid cloud offers the ability to adapt the environment to changing business conditions faster than ever before.

Frost & Sullivan's white paper, The New Hybrid Cloud: Aligning IT and Lines of Business with Dynamic Hybrid Environments, examines the evolution of hybrid clouds and introduces the latest generation of hybrid cloud solutions. In addition, the analysis demonstrates the benefits of new orchestration and management platforms, as well as how to select the right service provider for your business.

Traditionally, hybrid cloud has been defined as an integrated cloud service that uses both private and public clouds in a single environment. Hybrid cloud environments also enable organizations to take advantage of the scalability and cost efficiencies of a public cloud environment for certain dynamic workloads like mobile or collaboration, while maintaining other workloads on premises-based equipment that is managed by the business, and still works well inside the data center.

Recently, a new breed of hybrid cloud platforms have emerged that can deliver on promises that were unmet in earlier hybrid offers. The three most crucial characteristics of the new hybrid cloud are robust orchestration that manages the complete environment, including both traditional and cloud components, dynamism, and open standards.

"While cloud computing has the potential to deliver much needed applications and service to the business, at the speed and performance levels required to be beneficial, integrating cloud environments remains a challenge," said Stratecast | Frost & Sullivan Cloud Computing Industry Analyst Karyn Price. "Use of automation, orchestration, and analytics within the cloud management platform can help integrate hybrid environments that are traditionally more difficult to manage through a single pane of glass."

In this analysis, Frost & Sullivan reveals how IBM's rich history in traditional areas of IT and gained expertise through the development of their cloud services portfolio, offers businesses the mix of traditional and cloud knowledge to move forward with a hybrid environment that merges any combination of clouds.

"IBM has built its hybrid cloud capabilities on open standards. Doing so offers business the ability to automate deployment and management of enterprise applications across hybrid cloud delivery models," said Price."Transparency, visibility, and control will drive the next generation of hybrid cloud offers. IBM can show customers exactly where their data resides, what's going on in the environments, and how they themselves can control it to ensure the fastest, most agile, secure, and resilient environments."
