2015-09-04 21:00 3566

SHANGHAI, September 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Global cyberdata has doubled every three years. Over 95% of this data is unstructured. Collecting, storing, analysing and exploiting such a staggering amount of cyberdata has become a hot topic for a range of businesses.

Unstructured data like pictures, audio, video, as well as most natural human communication modes extensively used online haven't come close to being completely analysed, leading to a big waste of great data. Data like the logs of users' activities is another gold mine far from complete exploitation. Because most business activities haven't been connected on the internet, records of users' activities are unavailable. Some internet companies don't even have proper analysis methods to deal with log data. In light of most log data being regularly deleted, the data resources and their intrinsic values haven't been accounted for and exploited.

The values of data begin with storage. Since its inception in 2011, QINIU, a renowned cloud storage service provider in China, has provided professional cloud services to 280,000 business users, with daily data processing volumes surpassing 1.2 billion. In serving these business users, QINIU realized the importance of data in building their future business, as well as varied difficulties and issues regarding data storage and processing. At the 2015 D-Future Summit, a grand data industry event held on Aug. 29, QINIU committed to exploring where data comes from, how to apply data and how data can restructure our future.

Xu Shiwei, CEO of QINIU declared in his opening speech that QINIU is the world's first company to adopt storage, velocity and data processing to define cloud storage service. He also underlined the corporate purpose is to become one of the most open and integrated data service providers. Incorporating original KODO object store service, FUSION platform, QINIU will redefine cloud storage based on DORA data processing platform and seven industry solutions published at this summit, as well as PILI live cloud services to be published. In 2016, QINIU will redefine cloud computing and big data with ground-breaking technologies and products.

Hundreds of CEOs, senior executives, technology wizards and industry experts gathered at this summit to explore data values, problems and solutions. Ten keynote industry speeches, six executive dialogues and twenty technology topic shares were organized to demonstrate the business revolution engendered by big data.

Tian Jietang, Vice Director General of the Department of Techno-Economic Research, Development Research Center of the State Council, P.R.C., interpreted the national policies concerning big data in China. Mr. Tian indicated that China is well on its way to becoming the No.1 data power in the world and the world data center. To further open up and regulate data streaming and define explicitly data property rights, China would formulate corresponding policy guidelines. Efficient data streaming can further improve the operating efficiency of a range of industries and businesses.

Viktor Mayer-Schonberger, author of Big Data, referring to Jawbone UP, Uber and Airbnb, figured out great importance of collecting data, focusing on the problem, and discovering the creative problem.

Data impacts different business segments in the internet age. Diverse industries feature same nature but different actual situations. This summit invited founders and senior executives of the leading companies from finance, multimedia, O2O and entertainment industries to discuss hot topics like how to operate leaner users' content, how to assist users in painting and exploiting their values. Wang Yumei, Managing Director from the Huatai Securities Research Institute, put forward that the impacts made by data can be classified into two parts:

  1. Data traffic is monetized. It fosters new business models converting data traffic into web advertising or games.
  2. Current business relationships are restructured. Taking the finance industry for example, internet facilitates execution schemes of the financial functions and personalizes the design of financial products to satisfy users' financial demands. In that way, finance industry can promote its most appropriate financial products to customers by evaluating elaborately the financial risks.

In addition, Li Shenshen, founder of Zhihu, Wang Nima, CEO of Baozoumanhua, Tongdao, founder of Tongdao Dashu, Zhang Xuhao, founder of ele.me, Liao Qinghua, CIO of Better Life, Long Kai, CTO of UnionPay Smart, Tang Lijia, CTO of Xiaokaxiu Miaopai and Tian Yu, Senior Analyst from Gartner Group shared their respective experiences regarding data operation.

This summit showcased applications of brilliant new technology selected from QINIU Data Platforms in the form of talk show. Varied livelihood issues had been dealt with with data technology, for example, how to find lost children by applying cloud storage and face recognition, how to improve current situations of pension system and enhance security monitoring.

The 21 century is characterized by Data is King. We are fortunate to witness great significance of data in promoting industry and technology development at the QINIU D-Future Summit. It has a long way to go for data revolution. But we have sound reasons to believe data will be further integrated to penetrate into every aspect of people's daily life.
