MOSCOW, Sept. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, exactly 1,000 days before the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, Swiss watch brand Hublot is pleased to have been involved in the unveiling of the official countdown clock for the tournament, which will begin on 14th June 2018.

The clock, that has been installed on Manezhnaya Square in the city centre, is only a stone's throw away from Moscow's famous Red Square and features a giant Hublot clock as part of the overall structure. It has been designed in keeping with the Official Look of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, using red as the dominant colour to reflect the architectural features of the Kremlin - one of the country's main tourist attractions. The inhabitants of the European continent's largest city and the many tourists who come to visit Moscow are unlikely to miss this giant clock, which is over 4 metres high and nearly 5 metres wide!

Hublot is the Official Timekeeper and the Official Watch of the FIFA World Cup[TM] and, as for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, will also be visible on the referee boards during all the competition's matches.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, commented: "We are happy once again to be FIFA's Official Timekeeper for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which will take place in Russia. Russia is a key market for Hublot, with Russian clients among our most significant buyers today. We can't wait for the 1,000-day countdown to come to an end and for the competition to begin!"

Hublot and football

Since 2008, Hublot has become the first luxury brand to get involved in the world of football. In fact, Hublot was the "Official Timekeeper" for Euro 2008. The idea for Hublot's involvement in football came from Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot and CEO of the LVMH Group's Watches Division. His idea was to "go where the potential customers are". In 2010, the company became the first historic "Official Timekeeper" of FIFA and the two following Football World Cups, in Brazil in 2014 and in Russia in 2018; these master strokes give Hublot exceptional global visibility.
