HONG KONG, Sept. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A new glittering jewel of Asian entertainment has been unearthed! Starting October 1, 2015 from 6am, viewers living in Hong Kong can tune in to nowTV Channel 151 for the hottest Asian TV shows in both standard and high definition, with localized subtitles.

Viewers will get to enjoy first-run and exclusive dramas, comedies and variety entertainment shows from Japan's Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV), as well as programs from other Asian territories including South Korea, mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. They can also look forward to catching prime time dramas that will air within the same week of broadcast in Japan.

Spanning action, period, comedy, family and romance genres, GEM is anchored by a wide range of Asian drama with captivating stories and features a star-studded cast from Asia to keep audiences returning for more.

Premiering on October 17, within the same week of the Japan telecast, and airing every Saturday at 10.50pm (HK) is ANGEL HEART, a live-action spinoff of the popular classic manga 'City Hunter'.  The enthralling series stars award-winning actor Takaya Kamikawa as Ryo Saeba, an intuitive and charming private detective.

Beginning October 5 and airing every Monday and Tuesday at 9pm (HK) is Death Note, the television adaption of the world-wide hit, featuring Japanese stars Masataka Kubota, Kento Yamazaki and Mio Yuki. The psychological thriller follows the adventures of college student Light Yagami (Masataka Kubota) who finds a notebook known as the Death Note, which contains the power to kill anyone whose name is written in it.

Starting October 2 and airing every Friday is top-rated suspense series Hanasaki Mai Speaks Out Season 2.  The second season returns from where it left off as Hanasaki Mai (Anne), the 'outspoken and relentless heroine', and Ken Souma (Takaya Kamikawa), the 'hopeless middle-aged man', continue their bumpy partnership to stand up for their distressed colleagues and brilliantly solve one scandal after another.

The channel will also boast a myriad of highly entertaining Japanese variety programs including EXIT!, a phenomenally successful and exhilarating game show that will put audiences at the edge of their seats; Masquerade, the wackiest long-running Japanese competition that challenges its participants to use costumes, props, makeup and even parts of their own bodies to create visual tricks; and MOCO's Kitchen, a top-rated cooking show hosted by popular actor Mocomichi Hayami.

GEM, the new and premier destination for Asia's best TV shows, is set to debut on nowTV on October 1, 2015, from 6am (HK). See www.GEMtvasia.com for more information.
