Tumblr to Discover - the Gen Y Perspectives

Ms Tania Lau, Marketing Director of Yahoo Hong Kong remarked, "Coming from Hong Kong's No. 1 leading portal, we are pleased to utilize micro-blogging platform Tumblr for our campaign, where youngsters could flex their creative muscles and express their attitudes and dreams. We encourage participants to morph their ideas into messages and show the world the Gen Y perspectives. This program, followed by a series of workshops, aims to support and nurture local creative talents, enabling students interested in digital marketing to learn about market trends and better equip themselves for the digital age. The end goal is for the new-generation Social Media Specialists to be seeded and we look forwards to see them bloom."

"Thanks to the support from all tertiary institutes, campus road shows in the past 2 weeks were enthusiastically received, we even saw teams formed on-site, on-the-spot. An abundance of resources have been pooled for the program where various enriching workshops and interactive coaching from our lineup of mentors will inspire participating teams. The Champion Team will embark on an all-expenses-covered 5-day trip to Tumblr's Headquarter in New York to meet the world's top digital gurus, and will have a taste of working alongside the Yahoo Hong Kong team in next summer. Besides, the Top 3 teams would receive scholarships totaling HK$45,000."  She continued, "The young generation is energetic and full of creativity. The fulfilment of interests, hands-on experiences and constructive coaching are highly valued, aside from the monetary and prize rewards. We hope participating teams will understand individual members' differences in artistry, learn to communicate and leverage on each other's strengths, as the 3 assigned missions will require strong teamwork."

Therefore, tertiary students should manage their online presence and maintain consistency in their tones and styles on social media sites in order to build a favourable and reliable personal image." About Tumblr, the Social Platform

Tumblr is a microblogging platform and social networking website founded in February 2007 by David Karp, headquartered at New York. Tumblr now hosts over 250 million blogs and 1.2 billion blog posts. Last year the controversial image and heated debate of "What color is this dress: Gold and white or blue and black?" on the Internet made Tumblr a global phenomenon. In recent years Tumblr has been recognised as the next star of social networking platform by international media. Tumblr's rapid growth in number of users and usage in 2014 ranked first in several large-scale surveys, surpassing some of the hottest social networking websites such as Facebook and Instagram. In US, Tumblr has indeed become the most popular online social platforms amongst people aged under 25. Tumblr users are enabled to freely design and create Tumblr themed pages of their own, to blog easily with 7 different functional post types including but not limited to texts, photos and videos, and to share their views globally in more convenient ways than the nowadays social networking media. Many famous celebrities are Tumblr's loyal fans and users.
