HONG KONG, Oct. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- DHL, Official Logistics Partner of Rugby World Cup 2015, today announced the extension of its partnership with the Men's and Women's HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

As Global Partner and Official Logistics Partner of the World Rugby Sevens Series, DHL will build on its previous sponsorships of individual tournament legs in Hong Kong, the UAE, and USA to deliver event freight and logistics across 10 rounds of the upcoming annual Series. The Series will kick off in Dubai in December 2015 and culminate in London in May 2016.

The partnership announcement comes immediately after the Hong Kong women's Sevens team clinched victory in the opening event of the 2015 Asia Rugby Sevens Series, securing them a place in the qualifying tournament for the women's Sevens Series next year. With this win, the city is set to enjoy another wave of rugby fervor in the lead-up to the highly anticipated Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens tournament in April 2016.

In addition to logistics services for some of the teams taking part in the 2015-16 Season, DHL will also support World Rugby's development of the game among new audiences and in new territories through various grassroots initiatives.

Ken Lee, Executive Vice President, Commercial, Asia Pacific and Managing Director, Hong Kong and Macau, DHL Express, said, "Having been a partner of the Hong Kong Sevens tournament for four years, we are delighted to extend our support to all 10 tournaments of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series globally, and to reaffirm our commitment to the delivery of rugby in Asia and around the world. Rugby sevens is a sport which shares many of DHL's core values, such as speed, passion and teamwork, and we take pride in the role that this format of the game will have in promoting rugby to new fans and potential stars of the future."

The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series consists of 10 stellar tournaments held around the world, in which 15 national sevens teams compete for series points at each round, with an overall champion crowned at the end of the season based on points accumulated throughout the events.
