Regional innovation and technology incubator and strong global market leader join hands to support local green technology start-ups in various ways

China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group ('CECEP'), the parent company of CECEPHK, is the only state-owned company specialising in energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection in Mainland China. With over 470 subsidiaries and businesses in more than 30 provinces and cities in the country as well as over 40 countries and regions abroad, the Group plays an influential and decisive role in the development of green technology both in Mainland China and the world. As the overseas financial and asset management platform as well as overseas information and technology centre for CECEP, Hong Kong-based CECEPHK endeavours to explore new investment opportunities and bring in innovative technologies from the energy conservation and environmental protection industry.

HKSTP has always been active in establishing close partnerships with strong industry leaders and venture capital firms in order to accelerate the development of the local innovation and technology ecosystem. It has organised several visits to CECEP with an aim to foster a collaboration platform for both parties to foster the growth of local green technology start-ups. The strategic partnership of HKSTP with CECEPHK enables both side to fully leverage one another's unique strength and resources to provide value-added support, including technical guidance in R&D, entrepreneurship and corporate management training, marketing support and funding and more, etc. to green technology start-ups under HKSTP's Incubation Programme and enterprises based in Hong Kong Science Park. This scheme will speed up the R&D progress of high-potential energy conservation and environmental protection technologies and shorten the time required for commercialising green technology products and solutions.

Bring both sides' strength into full play and cooperate extensively to help start-ups go further and faster

Through the Programme, CECEPHK will enable local green technology start-ups to enter the enormous energy conservation and environmental protection market and seize every golden opportunity for growth through its vast capital, know-how and competitive advantages in the market. It will connect these start-ups with real-world business opportunities to enable innovations with great potential to get recognition in overseas markets as soon as possible. Zhao Youmin, Executive Director & General Manager of CECEPHK, said, "We firmly believe that the Programme will help us identify and bring in Hong Kong's innovative and feasible energy conservation and environmental protection technologies with high market potential. This Programme can facilitate the technological progress and industrial development of China's energy conservation and environmental protection industry, promote capital docking with global transitional capital and help us further put our operation principle, 'Based in Hong Kong, Facing the world' into practice."

Eminent CECEP targets Hong Kong's high quality R&D projects

Allen Ma, CEO of HKSTP, believes such collaboration seals the distinguished mark of innovations and technologies nurtured by the Corporation and boosts the confidence of local green start-ups for their future development. He said, "Being one of the leading innovation and technology incubators in the region, HKSTP has built an extensive market network with many years of effort; our teams with in-depth professional knowledge in various science and technology fields are definitely capable in guiding international global venture capital firms to target local start-ups with the most promising future and assisting them in making the best investment decisions. The ability for HKSTP-nurtured technology enterprises to draw the attention from CECEPHK, a large-scale corporation and leader in Mainland China's energy conservation and environmental protection market, fully manifests the fact that these technology enterprises are with great potential in business growth and have made outstanding R&D accomplishments."
